Bay Window

Bay windows are a much loved feature in our homes. They have a traditional look that’s always been well regarded in the UK. Despite changing times, they rarely go out of fashion. In fact, bay window replacement has seen older types of bay windows replaced with new, contemporary bay windows built using hard wearing and durable materials.

What exactly is a bay window?

Bay windows are any form of window that projects out from the main wall of the property to form a bay within the room. They can be large, or small but all have a number of similar features and benefits. Bay windows project outwards rather than being flat across the wall. They make the internal room more spacious, while being attractive to look at from the outside. They will usually be made up of 3-5 panels, with the 5 panel option giving more panoramic views and allowing for more light to enter the room.

A better view from a bay window

Bay windows generally give a more panoramic and expansive view. This makes them a popular choice when a house looks out on pleasing scenery, or even if you just want to enjoy a better view of your garden. The space inside a bay window can be a good place to locate a chair or perhaps even a table and chairs, where you can sit and enjoy the outlook.

Bay windows suit all kinds of properties

Bay windows are sometimes wrongly associated with larger homes. Although they're frequently seen at larger properties they can be found in all kinds of properties. Bay fronted terrace houses are always popular, and smaller modern homes are often enhanced by the addition of bay windows. In fact, their classic style can enhance a wide variety of properties.

Different types of bay windows

Bay windows are made of different materials such as aluminium and wood, and come in a variety of styles. Box bay windows are squarer with flat sides and a flat front. As the name suggests, bow windows are more curved. They create a rounded appearance and generally have more windows than a typical bay window, allowing more light into the room. Circle bay windows have a smooth semi-circle that comes out from the property, usually featuring several panes of glass that go all the way round.

A new bay window can transform your home

Bay windows can have a real impact on your home. They can immediately open out your room, allowing extra light and giving you a better perspective when looking out. If you already have existing bay windows, replacing them with contemporary bay windows can make a real difference. They are well-made, hard wearing and retain much of the aesthetic appeal of traditional bay windows.
